Asia Pietraszko | Visiting Assistant Professor

We are very pleased to welcome Asia Pietraszko to the department this year:

I’m a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Linguistics Department at UConn. I received a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Chicago. I’m interested in syntax and morphology, particularly in the verbal domain. My dissertation is a study of multi-verbal constructions in Ndebele, a Bantu language of Zimbabwe, and it addresses the questions of synthesis and periphrasis, as well as the role of selection and agreement between heads in the inflectional domain. Other topics I’ve worked on include complementation, clause nominalization, relative clauses and the morphophonological structure of Bantu verbs.

At UConn, I teach The Diversity of Languages and undergraduate Syntax. In the spring, I will teach a Field Methods class.

Witamy Asia!
