Presenter Information
Dear GALANA Presenters,
We are very excited since the GALANA conference is little more than a week away!
Here is some important information about the conference, technology, and other issues (this information duplicates, expands on, and in some cases supercedes some of the previous website postings):
ORAL PRESENTATION
-- Talks are 20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion.
If you are using technology and so is the person following you, please allow the next person to set up during the last 3 minutes of discussion.
-- Presenters should bring at least 100 handouts.
No matter how prepared we are, technology sometimes fails. Also, attendees appreciate a written record of your presentation. We would like everyone to bring handouts whether you are using technology or not. Facilities for photocopying in Storrs are limited. Our current estimated attendance is approximately 100.
-- There will be a laptop & projector available for those who need it.
You may use your own laptop, Windows or Mac (bring the proper adaptor if needed!). We will also have both types of laptop available if you prefer to use ours. The AV system in the theatre does include audio.
There will be an AV technician available 30 minutes before talks start in the morning and also during the breaks so that you can test your equipment as needed.
POSTER PRESENTATION
-- The boards on which the posters will be presented are 6 feet wide by 4 feet tall. Your poster should be no larger than these dimensions.
We apologize for the incorrect information posted previously. If you had already prepared your poster using the old dimensions, we can set up your poster so that it hangs above/below the frame of the easel.
-- Pushpins will be provided.
-- Presenters are encouraged to bring handouts to accompany your poster.
Current estimated total attendance is approximately 100.
-- Please plan to set up the poster in the AM (before the first talks or during the morning break). Presenters should get their lunches at the beginning of the lunch break, then stand by the poster til the end of the lunch break.
-- The posters will need to be taken down at the end of each poster session, due to other demands on the room.
EVERYONE
Note that both the oral presentations and the posters will be in the same building, the University of Connecticut Student Union. However, the oral presentations are in the Theatre (on the ground floor), and the posters are in room 330. These rooms are on different floors and different parts of the Union. Look for signs to direct you to the correct location.
Contact us at <galana2008@uconn.edu> or <galana3@gmail.com> if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
--GALANA 3 Organizing Committee
