GALANA 2008 – UCONN
STUDENT TRAVEL FELLOWSHIPS

We have applied for funds to grant student travel fellowships. In the hopes that we will receive these funds, we will accept applications for travel fellowships from students at U.S. and/or foreign universities. Students submitting abstracts are encouraged to apply for the stipend by providing the relevant information below.  Please note that the deadline for abstract submission is April 1, 2008, while the deadline for applications for Travel Fellowships is May 1, 2008.

Eligibility
Students at U.S. or foreign universities are welcome to apply; post-doctoral fellows are not eligible. In the case of multiple authorship, only the first author is eligible for a fellowship.

Selection criteria
The screening will be based on three factors: average numerical rating of the abstract by reviewers, distance of travel, and a statement of financial need. Additional information, such as recommendations, will not be considered.

Stipend and payment process
The fellowship amount is contingent on the availability of funding and the number of awardees. The recipient will be notified as soon as possible thereafter. The stipend will be paid by check in U.S. dollars at the registration desk to each Fellowship awardee. TO RECEIVE THE STIPEND, (1) THE ORIGINAL BOARDING PASS//TICKET STUB AND (2) RECEIPT MUST BE PRESENTED. It is recommended that international awardees cash their checks at a U.S. bank before leaving the U.S.
